Description
An unusual winter squash with flesh that separates into ‘noodles’ when fully cooked. This nutritious, high – fiber squash variety grows on a vigorous vine that can grow to 4 meters long. The vine can be allowed to sprawl or can be trellised.
Care
Plant in a sunny spot. For best results, amend soil with plenty of compost and fertilize regularly, as this variety can be very productive when well fed. The root ball can be sunk 5 – 10cm below the soil surface to support the stem and have the roots in a zone with consistent moisture, but try to keep young leaves from touching the soil surface when first planting out (If you allow the plant to sprawl, mature leaves will inevitably come into contact with the soil. Mulching well with a loose material such as wood chips or straw which act as a barrier between leaves and the soil surface will help to prevent powdery mildew.) Water well and often, but avoid getting leaves wet. This variety can also be grown in a large container and trellised to save space.
Harvest once fruit is a uniform yellow and stem has begun to dry up and turn brown.
